Neil Jones

Neil Jones is the co-founder, lead singer and guitarist of Stone Foundation, the British soul band he formed with bassist Neil Sheasby in 1998 in the Midlands. Originally from Sutton Coldfield, the band built their sound from a deep love of Northern soul and Motown, combining tight rhythm sections, brass-heavy arrangements and rich vocal harmonies into a vibrant, modern take on the genre.

Their landmark album Street Rituals was produced by and featured Paul Weller, who described it as "a great bit of work with a strong message." Across their career, Stone Foundation have collaborated with Bettye LaVette, William Bell of Stax, Graham Parker, Nolan Porter, Dr Robert of The Blow Monkeys, and former Style Council members Steve White, Mick Talbot and Paul Weller — a roll call that speaks directly to the world Monks Road Records inhabits.

Neil is now one of the chief curators and mainstays of Monks Road Social, helping to shape the collective's direction and bringing the same soul brotherhood to the label that has defined Stone Foundation's entire journey. His writing partnership with Sheasby, and his deeply held mod-soul ethos, makes him one of the most natural and essential creative voices in everything the label stands for.
