Crispin Taylor
Nicknamed "The Pump," Crispin Taylor is one of the most experienced and in-demand drummers in British soul, funk and jazz, with some 35 years in the music industry and a career that has taken him to the world's largest stages. He cut his teeth on the post-punk circuit in London before becoming the go-to funky drummer of the late-80s rare groove scene. As founder member of the mighty live funk band Push, he was recruited — along with the rhythm section — to Acid Jazz pioneers Galliano, recording four albums and touring the world to over 250,000 records sold.
He joined Zero 7 from their very first gig, touring and recording with them for four years all the way to the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. He has also recorded a dance hit with Paul Weller under the guise of Mather, and has performed alongside soul legends including Marlena Shaw, Candi Staton, Imagination, Martha Reeves, PP Arnold and Ce Ce Peniston.
Crispin joined The Blow Monkeys for the first time on record with The Wild River (2017, Monks Road Records), and is currently the band's drummer alongside his work with Mother Earth. He is also a producer and remixer for Monks Road Records, serving as assistant producer on the Out of Bounds album, and has been a founding member of the Monks Road Social house band from the very first session.
