Miles Copeland
Miles Copeland is the founder of London-based record label Wonderfulsound, an imprint he started in 2003 initially as an outlet for The Superimposers — his musical partnership with Dan Warden. Named after Miles Davis, he fell in love with music and vinyl at an early age, and by eight or nine was constructing tape loops on his parents’ hi-fi.
Since 2010 Wonderfulsound has opened its doors to an extensive roster of artists, all sharing a passion for the classic songwriting of the 1960s and 70s. The label operates a beloved vinyl Singles Club — a bi-monthly 7” subscription service that delivers limited, often signed releases direct to members ahead of commercial release. Miles also presents a weekly show on Soho Radio and provides music direction for fashion brands and events.
His role in the Monks Road Records story is central. It was Richard Clarke who turned to Miles to co-navigate the fourth Monks Road Social album Rise Up Singing!, with Miles co-writing and playing omnichord alongside Dr Robert and a cast including Paul Weller, Mick Talbot and Matt Deighton. Part curator, part collaborator, part the beating creative heart of a label that shares his conviction that music made with love and craft will always find its people.
